Ich bevorzuge lokale und saisonale Produkte
Wir wissen, dass das, was wir essen, Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt hat, mehr oder weniger je nachdem wofür wir uns wann entscheiden.
Wir wissen auch, dass die Reduzierung unseres Fleischkonsums und die „Ökologisierung“ unserer Teller eine gute Sache für den Planeten (und unsere Gesundheit) ist.
Es lebe das Gemüse und das Obst! Ja, aber auch hier kann man bessere und schlechtere Entscheidungen für den Planeten (und unsere Gesundheit) treffen.
Denn der Kauf von Erdbeeren im Winter oder Äpfeln aus Chile, auch wenn sie aus biologischem Anbau stammen, ist nicht ideal.
Es ist also besser, so viel wie möglich zu kaufen:
- lokal:
Dadurch wird der Warentransport und die Verwendung von beheizten Gewächshäusern vermieden. Wir vermeiden Produkte, die aus dem anderen Teil der Welt kommen, auch wenn sie biologisch sind, und vor allem, wenn sie auch in Belgien hergestellt werden. - und saisonal:
Dadurch wird die gesamte Energie vermieden, die benötigt wird, um sie außerhalb der Saison in einem beheizten Gewächshaus anzubauen. Sie haben nicht nur einen größeren Einfluss auf das Klima, sondern sind auch oft teurer und weniger lecker.
Es ist ganz einfach, frische, unverarbeitete Lebensmittel, die vor Ort hergestellt werden und in der Saison verschmutzen etwa 10 Mal weniger als nicht-lokale und saisonale Lebensmittel!
Also sagen wir argentinischen Zwiebeln oder Tomaten (auch belgischen) im Winter Lebewohl. Und es lebe das Hier und Jetzt!

10-mal geringere Verschmutzung durch unverarbeitete frische Lebensmittel, die vor Ort und in der Saison hergestellt werden, als nicht-lokale und saisonale Lebensmittel.
Kennzahl 2:
80 kg CO2: Einsparung pro Person und Jahr beim Verzehr von biologischen, lokalen und saisonalen Lebensmitteln.
